Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival Student Design Contest

 

STUDENT LANTERN DESIGN CONTEST

 

The Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival Student Design Contest welcomes area youth with the opportunity to design a lantern for the 2026 Festival. Children ages 8-14 are invited to submit a drawing of a horse to celebrate the Lunar New Year: Year of the Horse. Winning horse drawings will be crafted into lanterns and displayed throughout the Festival, June 5 through August 16, 2026.

  • Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 8, 2026 midnight. 
  • Only one design per participant is permitted. 
  • Design should include name, age, grade, and hometown.
  • Please include student name, phone number, and e-mail for parent or guardian. 
  • Contest winners will be announced in May and listed in a Lantern Festival press release.
  • Winners and their families will be invited to the Festival Opening Night on June 5 and receive 10 tickets to come back to the festival.
